The site consists of Ardmore House (1920s), the old shire council chambers, Wilson's Downfall gaol as well as the former North Maryland school house. It also is home to over 20,000 artifacts in a collection that has been donated by Stanthorpe locals and proudly displayed for visitors to enjoy.

Stanthorpe Cheese

Being labelled “Wine Country” wasn’t enough. Stanthorpe also takes the crown and ribbon for “Cheese Country”. Quite fitting really as I can’t think of a better pair!

Nestled a stones throw from the Big Apple is Stanthorpe Cheese. the highest and coldest dairy farm in Queensland. Home to award winning artisan cheeses, this mouth watering place sources it’s ingredients locally and the results are a unique and masterful range of produce.

You can start by sampling the seasonal cheeses in the Jersey girls cafe. But be warned….the selection is too good to just choose one cheese so be prepared to leave with a handful of delectable slices. Pair it with a local drop and shop for local produce in the well stocked market.

To taste and dine visit Stanthorpe Cheese: 4 Duncan Ln, Thulimbah QLD

Castle Glen

Castle Glen sprung to life in 1990 when locals planted the Castle Glen vineyard. Later, the castle was built and became an iconic landmark in the area.

Inside, you can find a plethora of wines, fortified wine, fruit wines and the world’s first creme liqueurs. Walk in and you will be amazed at the plethora of products as well as the unique flavour offerings. What’s more special is all of it is made in house and uses local growers to source the freshest ingredients for their diverse beverages.

I couldn’t walk away empty handed and brought home the award-winning “Musk Stick” liqueur.
